Linell ES-EF Roy an aspiring artist developing his skills to achieve greatness. Born October 10th 1990 in Rexdale Ontario and raise by a single parent mother who worked hard to take care him and his sister 4 years older than him. Linell was first introduced to music by his father who was a dj and a tailor in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Though his father wasn’t always around, the times Linell seen his father he was always working around the turntables or designing cloths. Any opportunity Linell has he would always play with the microphone or the records.
In the early years of school, Linell was in the choir and also played the flute. But music wasn’t always his first priority, due to his father not being around he wasn’t as focused on it. As a youth growing up in the “ghetto” he had dreams of playing basketball, joining leagues or just playing for fun to get better in the sport. Linell eventually fell completely off music and was into playing sports or making money. With only his mother around he wasn’t as fortunate to get what he wanted. He would always be on the streets with his friends selling chocolates or trying to get people to sponsor him. Basketball was the only option for him until something changed in grade 7. His school “Greenholme” was taking all the grade 7 students on a camping trip. On one of the nights during the trip everyone was playing a game in the forest where the teachers were suppose to chase the students. As Linell and his friends where running through the forest pushing tree branches out their way a branch happened to swing back and hit Linell across his right cheek. He was then taken to the hospital to get 12 stitches. From that day he was known as “Scarface” (SF). A short period after the incident a friend of his gave him a computer program which was called “Fruity Loops”, where you make your own beats. This was his first introduction back to music. He played around and got familiar with the program until he got tired of it.
After grade 8 graduation SF’s mother decided to move in with her father at Jane and Sheppard to take care of him because he was sick. SF always wanted to know how it would be to live with his father so he contacted him and arranged to move in with him to start high school. Following the move Scarface found out that his father was having a child with another woman who was also moving in. The only choice he had was accept the fact and deal with it. Throughout the first year in high school SF found a group of people who was also interested in music. This led to dancing and rapping at talent shows. By grade 11 his father had two other kids and couldn’t handle SF because he was getting in trouble with the law and not focusing on school, so his father decided to send him back with him mother.
At Jane and Sheppard SF was known to everyone. He met a couple of people who was as interested in music as much as him. They ended up created I.G.F.M, a youth movement inspired to make good music. SF had to think of a rap name because Scarface was already taken. He thought and decided to put an “E” in front of the “S” and another “E” in front of the “F” and it became ES-EF (Eternal Sound Expressed Freely). The rest of the members ended up doing their own thing and ES-EF was left by himself to fulfill the I.G.F.M dream.
ES-EF is currently working trying to perfect his music. He writes his own music, raps, engineers, and produces. He is also is looking for any individual artists who is willing to join the squad. Contact im_grindin_fo_mines@hotmail.com for inquires.
